Overview
This is my personal site: a short introduction, my work history, case studies and notes. It replaces a Gatsby site I built in 2022.
The problem
The old site was a single long page. It had no room for case studies or writing, and its design no longer matched the work I wanted to show.
What I did
- Wrote a small design system first, “Quiet Editorial”, with type, colour, spacing and motion tokens.
- Built the site with Astro, Tailwind CSS v4 and MDX, fully static with no UI framework.
- Modelled experience, projects and notes as typed content collections.
- Supported light and dark themes with no flash, and respected reduced motion.
- Deployed it to Cloudflare Workers, with CI checking formatting, types and the build on every PR.
Outcome
The site is static, accessible and easy to update: adding a project is one MDX file and a cover image. I planned the whole rebuild as GitHub issues before writing code, which kept the scope honest.
