Overview
Wordle Live is my take on Wordle: guess a five-letter word in six tries, with an on-screen keyboard that tracks the letters you’ve used.
The problem
Remix had just been open-sourced and I wanted to learn it on something small but real. Wordle was everywhere at the time, and playing it daily was a good excuse to work on my English vocabulary.
What I did
- Built the game in Remix, with the word list and guess checking on the client.
- Built the board and keyboard with Material UI.
- Added letter states for correct, present and absent letters, on both the board and keyboard.
- Deployed it to Netlify with Remix’s Netlify adapter.
Outcome
The game is still live and playable. It was a quick way to learn how Remix structures an app, and a daily reminder that a small, finished project beats a big, unfinished one.
